Emergency Medical Technician - Initial Training Course

Class Price: $1,595.00
Notes: This course will meet Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6p-10p and eight (8) consecutive Saturdays from 9a-5p.
Starting date: May 5, 2025 and ending on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.
There will be no class Memorial Day weekend (May 24- May 26).

The Coastal EMS Academy EMT program offers comprehensive outcomes-based curricula designed to prepare graduates who are competent and compassionate critical thinkers committed to lifelong learning. The EMT program utilizes a combination of competency-based didactic (classroom) portion and performance-based laboratory portion that will prepare the student to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians certification exam.

 

The program is committed to graduating students who are competent entry level health care providers.  It is expected that graduates will demonstrate empathy and caring in patient treatment as they utilize critical thinking and problem-solving abilities in the application of their skills. 

 

The program strives to instill in graduates a commitment to lifelong learning and professional development. It is expected that graduates of the EMS Program will continue to enhance their skills through continuing education. 

 

The faculty of the program are all experienced EMS professionals, and each faculty member is committed to ongoing development and improvement of all aspects of the program. This continuing development is vital in assuring that each program’s academic curricula are of the highest quality and reflective of current practice.

 

Course tuition includes the course textbook- Emergency Care and Transportation of the Sick and Injured, access to Coastal Academy’s Online Learning Management System, and subscription to Platinum EMS Testing.

 

Access to a computer and internet is required to complete the online assignments related to the course. Students must attend all classes and achieve 100% attendance, a minimum course average of 80%, and successfully pass the class final practical examination prior to being eligible to achieve candidate status for the state practical examination and NREMT written exam. 

 

The EMT initial training program will meet Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6pm-10pm and every Saturday from 9am-5pm for eight (8) weeks.

 

The student must attend all classes and complete all work as assigned by the Instructor/Coordinator to complete this course.
